Dear Zhang Zhihe:
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the entire staff of Zoo Atlanta, I would like to congratulate the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on its 20 th anniversary. The work that you do to save the giant panda is so valuable and very much admired and appreciated around the world. We are proud of Zoo Atlanta's long partnership with the Base as together we go about doing the very important work of trying to ensure the survival of giant pandas and Chinese endangered species.
As you know, Zoo Atlanta's strong partnership with the Base began over ten years ago. We have worked hard with the staff at the Base on many projects, including breeding improvements, behavioral research, important veterinary improvements, public education programs and more. We have learned much from the staff at the Base. Most important is our deep friendship.
We are grateful for your being with us for the 100-Day Naming Ceremony for giant panda, Mei Lan, in November 2006. Your presence was not only special for us here at Zoo Atlanta, but also for the entire Atlanta and Georgia community. The Base's giant pandas, Mei Lan, Lun Lun, and Yang Yang on a research loan to Zoo Atlanta, have served to bring people together from all over the United States .
Through our very successful collaboration, the bond of true friendship has been deepened between the peoples of the United States and China . We look forward to our continued friendship and achievement in future collaborative efforts.

                           Sincerely

                              Dennis Kelly President/CEO
